The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. best budget robot vacuum of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. best budget robot vacuum doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different flooring types including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If best budget robot vacuum with a bit more noise and some extra cost it's a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you own a number of furniture. Finally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
